South African, Oscar Pistorius aka “the fastest thing on no legs” inspires. He lost his legs but not his heart. A double amputee athlete who runs with the aid of carbon fibre transtibial artificial limbs, he was able to compete in a able-bodied event for the first time on 13 July 2007 during the Golden Gala in Rome (see video below). Wikipedia records this inspirational man with his many controversial issues in his quest to be an olympian.

His sporting motto is: “You’re not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have.” In another race, he competed in the rain in Britain and came in last. (see video clip below)
