Toastmasters – Effective Evaluation

I’ve consolidated what I’ve seen and learned in speech evaluation during Toastmasters meeting in the mindmap below. These two methods are common and I’ve chosen to use them most of the time. While they provided a framework, how each person performed during evaluations depends a lot on individual style and use of words, pauses, vocal variety and confidence. I’ve also place some video clips below as hints and examples for training purpose.

Try to be Mindful

"Try to be mindful, and let things take their natural course. Then your mind will become still in any surroundings, like a clear forest pool. All kinds of wonderful, rare animals will come to drink at the pool, and you will clearly see the nature of all things. You will see many strange and wonderful things come and go, but you will be still. This is the happiness of the Buddha." - Ajahn Chah

5 Buddhist Precepts

1 abstain from harming living beings | 2 abstain from taking things not freely given. | 3 abstain from sexual misconduct. | 4 abstain from false speech. | 5 abstain from intoxicating drinks and drugs causing heedlessness.

My Daily Motivation

"Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue."
