Titled “Know the fear and do it anyway!”
Along time ago, a little novice by the name of Grasshopper, walked across a thin plank laid across a swimming pool flooded with acid. The skeletons of non-survivors filled the pool. Grasshopper was cautious and frightened of the consequence if he fell. Being human, his confidence started to wane as he reached the middle of the pool.
In a split second, he was unsure of the next step. “Maybe I should turn back!” he thought. But he knew that’s not a solution. He was fearful of the acid and was not paying attention to the next step. He slip and fell into the pool with a splash. He prepared for the worst as he hit the pool and started to scream. Then he realized the pool was just water filled with skeleton for special effect. His master, who all along was watching him laughed out loud and gave his lesson.
“Young Grasshopper, do you know what pushes you into the pool?” Asked his master.
“I was not careful!” answered Grasshopper.
“That’s right. You were not careful because you’re focused on your fear instead of on the task at hand! There will be risk involve in any task. Feel your fear and do the task anyway!”
Grasshopper went on to overcome many more demanding obstacles.
I am reminded time again by this story each time I faced with challenges. Tomorrow my other half, Mrs Ratanaong, will undergo a major surgery. A challenge that will involve certain amount of risk. Anything goes wrong there would have major consequence. Guess I will reassure her by postng this and asked her to view this post tonight.
“Dear, if you’re watching this blog, walk across the plank knowing the fear but stay on course and I’ll see you after the surgery.”

We are all like that most of the times. We let fear of the unknown overcome us!
